Why do I need to buy tickets to see my kid perform show!?!

We perform our season shows at real rock venues. Between the room rental, SOR staffing, venue staff and security, sound/lighting personnel, insurance, and promotion, these events are an expensive undertaking that run into the thousands of dollars. In order to off set these costs, we must sell tickets. We also believe that students that sell tickets for their own performances will work even harder to ensure the show is a success.

Why isn't my kid on more songs?

The method of casting shows is a simple one.  Every student starts the season with 2 songs.  The students that show up for rehearsal, put hard work into learning their parts, and make sure their instruments are tuned and in good working order, get more songs.  Students who miss rehearsals, are chronically unprepared, and/or who aren’t showing a strong level of commitment, will not get cast on additional songs.  This does not mean your child needs to be THE best; they just need to do THEIR best.  If you want your child on more songs, ensure that they are practicing their songs at home and have functioning instruments, and make rehearsal attendance a priority.

Can my kid play on [song name]?

All casting is chosen by the music and show directors.  We choose songs for their educational merit based on the level of proficiency each student is currently at with their instrument of choice.  Any lobbying by students or by their parents interferes with our ability to do our jobs correctly and isn’t fair to the rest of our performers.

Is Tommy busy? Can I talk to him? (Very important question!)

Yes, he is very busy! In addition to being the school and music director, he is also a drum teacher with a full roster of students. Pulling him aside during school hours is fine as long as is doesn’t interfere with a student’s lesson or rehearsal time. However, he does want to hear any concerns that you may have, so please schedule a time to talk to him with the office manager or by e-mailing him at trich@schoolofrock.com.

Are you open on [holiday name]?

The holidays that we observe are as follows:  New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day

Can I pay directly to the school every month?

Yes, you may pay by check at the school. However, there will be a $15 late fee if payment is received after the 5th. Setting up a monthly debit/credit or EFT avoids this fee. Cancellation is by written notice, 30 days in advance.
